Medical Technologist ASCP

Medical Technologist - predominately afternoons, but may vary - need to be flexible. Prefer someone with EPIC/Beaker experience.
Patient blood draws are part of this job.
Demonstrates knowledge regarding manual and automated cell counts on
whole blood using counting chambers, microscopes and the current
automated cell counter Cell Dyne 3500.
Demonstrates the ability to make and stain blood smears along with differential
white blood cell counts, red blood cell counts, platelet counts, and reticulocyte
counts, erythrocyte sedimentation rates and sperm analysis according to
policy and procedure manuals and accepted laboratory practice.
Demonstrates the ability to perform prothombin and partial thrombo plastin
time on the current automated coagulation analyzer Sysmex 500 series.
Demonstrates the ability to perform bleeding time according to policies and
procedures.
Demonstrates the ability to perform analysis of chemical constituent of serum,
plasma, whole blood urine, cerebral spinal fluid, and other body fluids with
Dade Dimension EXL, Avoximeter 4000, Osmetech Optic CCA, and Siemens Advia Centaur CP.
Demonstrates the ability to perform routine urinalysis on current analyzer Clinitek Status and identify cellular and formed constituents microscopically in urines according
to policies and procedures.
Demonstrates the ability to prepare guidelines and instructions for the
collection of random and 24 hour urines for optimum specimen presentation.
Demonstrates the ability to prepare and stain smears for the identification of organisms and structures seen in normal and disease states.
Demonstrates the ability to classify bacteria by biochemical reactions and report
results according to policies and procedure.
Demonstrates the ability to perform therapeutic drug analysis and drugs of
abuse according to policies and procedure.
Demonstrates the ability to perform blood bank procedures including blood type,
Rh, antibody screening, and cross matching according to accepted AABB
policies and procedure.
Demonstrates the ability to record and analyze quality control in all departments
assuring acceptable performance as per the C.L.I.A. regulations.
Demonstrates the ability to operate the laboratory information system and to
troubleshoot problems as they emerge.
Demonstrates the ability to evaluate new procedures, complete special projects,
and research current publications for continued quality improvement in the
laboratory.
Treats all patients and/or family members (who presents as a surrogate decision
maker and have demonstrated a right to information) with respect and dignity
should they inquire about laboratory information.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
Interacts professionally with all department members, physicians, staff, the
administration team, and patients and the department manager.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, department managers,
staff and the administrative team.
Coordinates all work efforts to ensure patient/physician needs are met and policy
is followed.
Ensures that the physical plan and environmental conditions of the laboratory
work area are appropriate for the testing performed.
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful
situations.
Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other
departments.
Works will with other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care
and performance improvement activities.
Consults other departments when appropriate to collaborate inpatient care and
performance activities.
Meets current documentation standards and policies.
Performs other duties deemed necessary by the laboratory supervisor that are
required or assigned.
Maintains current knowledge of hospital policy, state and other regulatory
requirements.
Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties.
Attends inservices and returns to laboratory in a timely manner.
Ensures confidentiality of patient records. Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
