Responsibilities:
Patient Care 90% Administers and documents the administration of medications and medical treatments as prescribed and in accordance with hospital policy in order to relieve symptoms of illness and promote health.
Receives and transcribes verbal and written physician's orders according to established policy/standards to ensure accurate administration of medications/treatment to patients.
Evaluates and communicates verbally and via written documentation to the physician and registered nurse the effects and side effects of prescribed medications to ensure optimal treatment results from medication.
Secures and accounts for all medications according to established standards/policies to provide for the safety of patients and secure management of pharmaceuticals.
As directed by the registered nurse, assigns and directs the nursing care provided for each patient on a daily basis using written schedules/work assignments and oral communication to ensure compliance with individual treatment plans.
Communicates patient health information verbally and/or via written documentation in order to assist with the development and implementation of a plan of individualized patient care.
Teaches health information to patients using formal and informal teaching methods in individual and group settings to ensure understanding of mental health/illness and medication issues in order to assist the patient to achieve satisfying and productive patterns of living.
Professional Development 10% Participates in the development standards related to patient care and nursing procedure through participation on hospital committees and assigned task groups.
Supervises, as assigned, the clinical experience of individuals participating in the Psychiatric Technician and Licensed Practical Nurse orientation as well as student practical nurses clinical experience in accordance with training objectives to ensure appropriate learning opportunities.
Adheres to the statutes and Administrative Rules of Montana and all laws and rules governing the practice of licensed practical nurses in order to maintain high standards of care and current licensure.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
Professional Clinical, Medical, and Nursing Services positions primarily work on treatment units and in a clinic setting.
These positions are involved in the treatment of persons who pose unpredictable and physically aggressive behavior requiring staff intervention and possible risk of injury to staff.
Employees in these positions are expected to assist with patient crisis interventions.
These positions are also involved in the evaluation and treatment of persons with histories of serious criminal acts.
These positions require training and demonstrated skill in hospital approved intervention techniques.
Telework:
This position is not eligible for telework arrangements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(Required for first day of work) Ability to provide patient assessment and appropriate documentation.
Implement appropriate nursing care interventions.
Perform accurate and thorough work.
Skill in the use of the basic instruments and equipment of the nursing profession.
Knowledge of current psychopharmacology.
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Ability to Analyze, assemble, and organize information.
Ability to proficiently utilize technology related to patient care information systems.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Montana.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
